Hotel de Russie, A Rocco Forte Hotel

When Rocco Forte opened the Hotel de Russie in 2000, architect Julio La Fuente and designer Tomasso Ziffer created a modern tranquil oasis in the center of the hustle and bustle of Rome. Steps away from the Via dei Condotti, Piazza de Popolo and the Spanish Steps, the 122 rooms and suites center around a peaceful interior garden that rises up a hill at the rear of the hotel.  The Stravinskji Bar has become a favorite meeting spot for stylish locals and traveler alike, and the de Russie wellness zone offers guests one of the few—albeit small—pools in Rome, six treatment rooms and a fitness center. The iconic property has a buzzy vibe with the bar and garden scene.

The common spaces are decorated in a neutral contemporary aesthetic with impressive flower arrangements sprinkled throughout. Spacious guest rooms have a serene design with pastel-hued walls and contemporary furniture and higher-floor rooms offer natural light and excellent views. The large marble bathrooms are covered in mosaic tiles and offer organic products. Rooms can face either the inner courtyard or the street, but the inner courtyard provides a more picturesque view, especially in the summer months. The magnificent two-bedroom Nijinsky Suite offers an extensive private terrace with views over the city. Like its sister property Hotel Savoy in Florence, Hotel de Russie offers a special treat for its littlest visitors with child-sized bathrobes, slippers, and a teddy bear turn-down service. The rooms are classic and well done, but they are not the most impressive in town.

In 2023, the hotel debuted the two-bedroom Nijinsky Suite, designed by Olga Polizzi with a 2,500-square-foot private terrace. The suite pays tribute to ballet dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, and joins other suites paying homage to Pablo Picasso (who stayed for several months in 2017), Federico Fellini and more. A stay includes VIP airport transfer, a personalized experience in Rome and more.

Note: As of November 2023, the hotel is still in the process of upgrading their rooms and renovating their spa, so be sure to request a renovated room.
