Our member, Alice Hunt, had plans to travel to Venice for a friend’s birthday and was inspired to visit another part of Italy before the festivities. She wanted Indagare’s help with creating a comprehensive itinerary that included hotels, guides, cars and drivers and special access.

We recommended Lake Garda’s Villa Feltrinelli, a romantic, intimate property for her and her husband to enjoy before they met the rest of their friends in Venice. We arranged a private boat excursion to Isola di Garda as well as guided tours to the charming, lakeside towns of Verona, Sirmione and Salo. In Venice, Alice and David stayed at the centrally located Gritti Palace, a grand and opulent property that was completely renovated in 2013 and boasts fantastic views of the Grand Canal. We arranged expert guides to lead the Hunts through the Accademia, Guggenheim Museum and specific exhibitions of the Venice Biennale.

The Indagare Advantage
Alice was interested in arranging a private tour of the Doge’s Palace in Venice. Considered the political, cultural and artistic center of Venice, the Doge’s Palace is packed with tourists during the day, so we organized an exclusive, after-hours tour that allowed Alice and her husband to explore the palace’s history and art, which includes works by Veronese, Titian and Tintoretto. They had the galleries all to themselves.

“We had a magical time in Lake Garda and a wonderful stay in Venice. Our stay at Villa Feltrinelli in Lake Garda was one of the top highlights of our trip, and it should be on everyone’s bucket list. The hotel was beautifully restored and looks like a movie set, but it was truly made special by the excellent service and delicious food. On the first day, we explored the dramatic landscape of Lake Garda aboard a riva boat and were blessed with perfect weather. Our guides for the day trips to the lakeside towns were very smart and personable, and I especially loved Verona with its fascinating Shakespearean history. But little competes with Venice where we loved our hotel, the Gritti. It was fully renovated a few years ago, but still feels exquisitely old-world with a lively atmosphere and fantastic service. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch each day on the hotel’s terrace overlooking the canals. Our guide was incredible and navigated us expertly through the city so we avoided all of the crowds. I spent a full day visiting different exhibitions of the Venice Biennale, specifically the Giardini and the Arsenale, which were outstanding! I also enjoyed touring the Guggenheim, the Fortuny Museum and the Punta Della Dogana. However, the most extraordinary tour was the private, after-hours visit to the Doge’s Palace, which is an experience I will never forget. Ultimately, this was a magical trip that we would happily re-do. The way everything was laid out and planned was truly special.” ~ Alice Hunt, Indagare member since 2011
