Venture to the top of a glacier in the middle of the Alps with the “Top of Europe” experience at Jungfraujoch, more than 11,000 feet above sea level. For the fastest route up, visitors will first take the Eiger Express gondola before hopping on the highest train in Europe. This route takes you passed the famous Eiger to the top of Jungfrau where you can enjoy icy views of the glacier year-round, a glacier hike, a multimedia adventure tour and more. James Bond fans may recognize the peak from On His Majesty’s Secret Service, and chocolate lovers will enjoy the highest Lindt chocolate shop in the world.
If it all sounds a little touristy, that’s because it is. This is one of the busiest attractions in the Alps, drawing more than a million visitors each year. Trains up can be packed, as can the activities at the top. Visiting the Jungfrau is not for those seeking serenity in the mountains. Instead, it’s for travelers (particularly with children) who want to reach some of the highest peaks in the Alps via an ultra-accessible train ride.
