This bakery-cum-bistro, from husband-and-wife chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke and restaurateur Bill Chait, debuted in the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile space (built by Charlie Chaplin in 1929) in 2013. Judging by dishes like the white prawns with persimmon, pistachio and chili and duck breast with brussel sprouts, spatzle and orange, the French cuisine here is hitting it out of the park. And with Margarita’s baking prowess, keep the bright, high-ceilinged brick spot in mind for breakfast come morning. Brioche French toast with Cara Cara oranges and maple syrup, crème brulee donuts or eclairs, anyone?
