You can sign on for a fifty-minute flight, though most people opt for the two-hour tour, which covers most of the island, including the lovely and very wild Waipio Valley, with its multitude of waterfalls. Each helicopter holds six to seven people; the pilot makes sure everyone gets a good view while giving an informational talk about the island.
