The Hat Shop

The Hat Shop on Thompson Street, is another one of those "only-in-downtown New York" shops. It is a true passion project, with hats made by hand in New York or from specialist milliners. You can find everything from fedoras and berets to boaters, cloches and fascinators. A visit will always be a tutorial as well. On my most recent visit I learned how to properly position a beret and that oval headed people (as opposed to rounds) were known to be intelligent, which is where the term egghead came from.
