Just Back From: Iceland |Next Stop: Antarctica

Destination Requirements:

Daring adventures, stark terrain, a sense of being on the edge of the world

When it comes to  otherworldly landscapes, Iceland is unmatched by any other destination—except for Antarctica. The southernmost continent is vast and awe-inspiring in its natural beauty. Human visitors are relatively few, having for companions mainly fur seals, albatross, sea elephants, orcas and penguins. The best way to reach it is to navigate the iceberg-strewn water by ship, and many luxury cruise lines serve the region. Seasick-prone travelers can opt to bypass the notoriously turbulent Drake’s Passage with a flight from South Africa. Where to Stay: Aboard one of Indagare’s preferred cruise ships

Just Back From: Peru | Next Stop: Ethiopia

Destination Requirements:

Hikes to beautiful monuments, a rich, nuanced history, astounding landscapes

Ethiopia is attracting travelers with new, albeit rustic, hotels and thrilling excursions. Like Peru, Ethiopia has a many-layered history: It is the second-oldest Christian nation, and some anthropologists believe it to be the birthplace of humanity. With its diverse terrain, the country is home to a wide range of wildlife, including black panthers, monkeys and the Ethiopian wolf. Its spectacular rock churches, some centuries old, with stunning frescoes, make for a particularly special excursion, one that requires visitors to hike along the edges of steep cliffs. Where to Stay: Limalimo Lodge (limalimolodge.com), Bale Mountain Lodge (balemountainlodge.com)

Just Back From: Chile | Next Stop: Bolivia

Destination Requirements:

Arid landscapes, blossoming cities, a foodie scene

If Chile, one of South America’s fastest-rising destinations, is noteworthy for its Atacama Desert and capital Santiago, Bolivia matches it with its striking Salar de Uyuni salt flat (the world’s largest) and capital La Paz, like its counterpart, nestled in an Andean valley. But the country’s attractions extend beyond these—to natural wonders like the cerulean Lake Titicaca and the Amazonian jungle. Indagare CEO Melissa Biggs Bradley visited the adventure destination on Indagare’s first Insider Trip to Bolivia in November 2017; read her impressions. Where to Stay: ATIX Hotel in La Paz (atixhotel.com), Luna Salada in Salar de Uyuni (lunasaladahotel.com.bo)

Just Back From: Hawaii | Next Stop: Fiji

Destination Requirements:

Secluded beaches, dramatic landscapes and sunsets, romantic atmosphere

Like Hawaii, Fiji has a tranquil beauty that enchants all who visit. Surrounded by azure waters and tiny islets, Laucala Island Resort is a fantastical destination that captures the soul of Fiji while offering an incredible number of activities, including scuba diving, jet skiing, wake boarding, water skiing, paddle boarding and cruises on the hotel’s sailboat, yacht or two-person submarine. The property also has an eighteen-hole golf course, an organic farm, a spa and much more. Where to Stay: Laucala Island Resort

Just Back From: A Private Boat Charter | Next Stop: Around-the-World Trip

Participant Requirements:

A flexible schedule, lots of time, a large budget Sailing on a chartered boat, whether along the Grecian coast or among the British Virgin Islands, is a grand adventure, one that requires a large outlay of time and money but provides travelers with over-the-top pampering and the freedom to choose and change destinations at will. The next step up is visiting multiple locations by private plane. Indagare has organized several such journeys of varying duration, from a trip of a few weeks through Europe to a year-long round-the-world adventure, with hotels, transfers, touring and excursions mapped out in hundreds of locales. Where to Stay: An Indagare-adored hotel in each spot.
