Review

Borana Lodge is the only lodge on Borana Conservancy. The lodge is “All For Conservation,” meaning each stay here has a tangible, positive impact on various conservation efforts in the region. Any retained earnings by the lodge go directly towards the sustainable conservation of the land, the wildlife and building local livelihoods. Each guest when staying at Borana Lodge is encouraged to get involved with conservation.

The lodge is perched on a hillside above a dam and has fantastic views of Mt. Kenya and the Laikipia Plateau from each room. Its location above the dam allows for regular animal sightings directly from the lodge. The property has six cottages in total, with four stand-alone cottages and two further cottages perfect for families. Each cottage is built directly into the rock and comes equipped with a veranda ideal for private dining. The family cottages are both two bedrooms and share a sitting room. Cottage 7&8 has its own small plunge pool and entrance making it an excellent, private retreat. The lodge does not have a gym, but it does have a swimming pool looking out over the valley and dam. Borana Lodge is all about natural beauty and creating an authentic, traditional safari experience.

Activities from the lodge include rhino tracking, horseback safari, bush walks, game drives, cultural visits, visits to the local farm where the lodge gets its fruits and vegetables and visits to Borana Conservancy’s headquarters for conservation activities centered around education.
