Review

Overlooking the idyllic fishing village of Ammoudi on the northern edge of Oia, Epitome is the newest Canaves property on the Santorini stage. Setting itself apart from its sister properties, Epitome is an expansive escape from the hustle and bustle of Oia’s famed caldera. With complementary shuttle rides to the city center, guests are able to easily access the caldera scene without compromising on space and privacy.

Epitome has sprawling grounds with lush gardens, and the airy floor plans are awash in natural light. The property melds modern, earthy elements with traditional Cycladic design. Accommodations range from one-bedroom Deluxe Suites to the palatial Five Bedroom Villa, and all 53 rooms have sunset-facing sea views and private plunge pools.

To complement its barefoot luxury vibe, Epitome has two pools, one of which is equipped with a sunset lounge bar and private sun loungers. Guests can dine at two restaurants on-property: Omnia serves international fusion dishes and shared plates, while Elements offers modern European cuisine in a fine-dining atmosphere (with sunset views). While there is a small spa, guests are encouraged to receive treatments in their rooms (as space there is not an issue). A state-of-the-art Technogym is available for use on site.

Canaves is family-owned and although Epitome is not advertised as a kids resort, it is distinctly family-friendly with a “kids instructor” available in-house to craft experiences for guests with children. Due to its location off the caldera and low-incline layout, guests of all ages can feel comfortable navigating the property. Golf carts are also available upon request.

Who Should Stay

Couples, families, honeymooners or groups of friends seeking a spacious Cycladic oasis in Santorini that balances caldera access with modern comforts, palpable privacy and unparalleled service. The location and layout are ideal for guests with mobility issues or small children.

Getting There

Arrive on Santorini Island by ferry, commercial flight, private jet or heli-transfer from Athens or surrounding islands. Then navigate to the hotel by car hire, taxi, or private vehicle. The drive is about 45 minutes from Anthinios Ferry Port and 25 minutes from the airport in Thira–but expect increased travel time during high season.
