Review

As the newest destination within the Chablé hotel brand, Casa Chablé aims to be a casually elevated wellness retreat far removed from buzzy Tulum. At the entrance point to the Sian Ka’an Bioreserve, guests board a fishing boat for a 45-minute ride through sparkling lagoon waters and mangroves before reaching the resort’s dock. The seclusion within nature is immediately tangible.

The Main House encompasses an informal lobby, well-stocked bar, infinity pool and five unique guest rooms. Those desiring more space and privacy will be better accommodated in one of the five bungalows scattered across the beach, with the Master Beach Bungalow being the most spacious (and private) option. Throughout the property, guests will enjoy a barefoot-chic vibe complimented by neutral tones and natural fibers.

With few common areas to note (outside of the Main House, guests have access to a small gym, the beach, an open-air restaurant and spa opening soon), the intimate size of the property isn’t suited for those requiring a full amenity list and greater levels of privacy. What the resort lacks in traditional offerings is supplemented by its unique position within the Sian Ka’an Bioreserve: days are quite literally bookended by sunrises on the beach and sunsets over the lagoon, best observed with a signature tequila cocktail (or mezcal tasting). Safari lovers and avid bird watchers will be delighted on a beach safari excursion to see wildlife in its pristine and protected habitat.

Without other hotels, dining venues or shopping in proximity, the isolation of Casa Chablé can’t be overstated. Those seeking disconnection from life’s usual pace and reconnection with nature and self will find themselves right at home. As the wellness program develops, future guests can look forward to improving their mind and body connection through kayaking, meditation and yoga, stargazing, Maya-inspired spa treatments and hands-on cooking experiences.

Who Should Stay

Couples or individuals with a penchant for the road less traveled and a willingness to embrace the remote location. The size of the resort also makes it a viable option for small groups seeking a wellness retreat. Bird watchers and safari enthusiasts should also consider a visit to see native species up close within the bioreserve.
