Review

Hayat Zaman Hotel & Resort

Haya Zaman is modeled after a late 19th-century rural Jordanian village, and upon entering the property, the past seems to come alive. With large and winding grounds, Hayat Zaman invites its guest to relax and experience the old village way of life. The 101 guest houses, three junior suites and royal suite are spacious with modern amenities, decorated authentically but furnished simply. Some rooms offer mountain views and have a terrace or balcony. The buildings are made of local stones meant to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter months. The property has a pool, gym, Turkish bath and event space.

Hayat Zaman’s main restaurant is Sahtain, and there is a bar next door where guests can enjoy pre or post dinner drinks. There is also a traditional bakery on property, easily found just by following your nose. It is possible to arrange special and authentic private meals under the stars in the property’s village square “Al Bustan.”

Who Should Stay

Anyone seeking a more authentic hotel experience during their time at Petra who doesn’t mind the 10-minute drive to the Petra Visitor’s Center. This hotel is not a high-end luxury resort, but does have all basic amenities.
