Celebrated decorator Jacques Grange has fashioned a glamorous boutique hotel in the center of old Palma.

Minimalists take note. This is not a hotel for you. Celebrated French designer Jacques Grange has let his love for pattern and color rip in the interiors of this boutique hotel. Set on a large square in the heart of the old Palma, Hotel Cappuccino (formerly Hotel Mama) occupies a historic building that had been gutted by fire, allowing an entirely new interior infrastructure. The main floor has a buzzy bar with ceilings painted in the style of a Mallorcan ikat with pink and white zig-zags. Behind it is an interior courtyard that is a more serene spot for cocktails or breakfast, and to the sides of that are small sitting rooms that evoke a retro Palm Beach vibe. The 32 guestrooms all have tile floors in vivid colors and patterns that are mixed with floral chintz curtains and upholstery. You will either love the bold blend and find it sunny and fresh or find it a bit much. The Pool Terrace on the roof is a small space with loungers set around a pool that is slightly bigger than a plunge pool but has views over the rooftops to a nearby church steeple. Apparently, in the busy summer months when the square outside teems with crowds until late in the night, it is better not to be in the front of the hotel, but in the quieter months, those rooms are preferred.
