Review

Krakow’s most historic property, the Hotel Copernicus is located on the oldest street in the city, Kanonicza, and occupies a 16th-century Gothic-style building. A favorite of diplomats, princes and presidents, the 29-room hotel is just steps away from Wawel Castle and surrounded by beautiful Renaissance buildings. While the vibe here is undisputedly historic, the hotel has been updated with modern comforts.

All of the 29 rooms and suites at Hotel Copernicus are unique, but most feature a mix of carved wooden bed frames, period furniture, dark silk curtains, exposed wooden beams and frescoed walls. The bathrooms, though slightly outdated, are perfectly functional and outfitted with L’Occitane products.

With one of the best restaurants in the city, Hotel Copernicus is a delight for foodie travelers. The tiny Copernicus restaurant serves Polish cuisine with a sophisticated twist, including dishes like foie gras with chocolate and berry marmalade and sea bass with chanterelle and saffron. The rooftop bar is a lovely spot for a cocktail when the weather is warm. In the cellar there is a small swimming pool, sauna and small gym with a handful of machines.
