Review
The best hotel in the Faroe Islands, Hotel Føroyar is quite basic, but boasts a great location on the outskirts of Tórshavn, the capital city, which is located in the midst of the Faroes’s 18 islands. Designed by a Danish architecture firm, the property was created in the 1980s so that it blends in with the landscape. The low-slung building has grass roofs and is set into the hillside outside Tórshav.
All rooms have views of the town and harbor and watching the sunrise from the second-floor breakfast lounge is a treat. The simple, barebones rooms are outfitted with minimal creature comforts but boast fluffy duvets and bathrooms with showers and tubs. Indagare tip: request a room on a higher level floor to receive more sunlight.
Who Should Stay
This is the best option in the Faroe Islands but visitors should beware that the hotel is much closer in style and vibe to a Holiday Inn than a luxury property.
