Review

Nestled among the hills of Mykonos, only a few miles from buzzing beach clubs like Scorpios and Nammos, Hotel Katikies feels a world away, exuding a serene and secluded vibe. Small plunge pools dot the white-washed property with pockets of blue, bougainvillea crawls up the stone walls and the grounds are impeccably landscaped with local olive trees and greenery.

When you arrive, the gracious hosts offer a welcome beverage, then show you to your room (often by golf cart, as the hills are quite steep). Some of the lowest category rooms are small, but each features an outdoor space overlooking the sparkling sea, and the best accommodations have their own private plunge pools. Expansive communal balconies are located throughout the hotel, with plenty of room for guests to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening cocktail with a view.

The property features two infinity pools, complete with circular sunbeds and an array of loungers, in addition to a well-appointed gym and the relaxing A. Spa. The two restaurants—the Seltz Champagne Bar and the poolside Mikrasia Bar and Grill—are both fine (albeit expensive) options with excellent wine lists, but the breakfast spreads are particularly memorable (don’t miss the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and the signature Katikies omelette). With only a few dozen rooms, the property feels intimate, yet common spaces still manage to create a buzzy, chic vibe, particularly when a DJ comes to play music at the pool and Champagne bar.

For guests wishing to venture off property, a protected cove called Kapari Beach is ten minutes away by foot and perfect for a morning dip, while the legendary Agios Ioannis beach is just down the road.

Who Should Stay

Katikies is best for couples and honeymooners seeking a serene seaside retreat, as well as more adventurous travelers looking for a picturesque boutique hotel within driving distance from Mykonos’ beach club scene.
