Indagare Loves

  • The pool, which serves as an oasis outside of the busy Wailea beaches, tucked away in the hotel gardens
  • The birdcage bar with panoramic views of the ocean and beaches below
  • The house cars (Tesla and Range Rover), available to take you down to the beach and to the Wailea strip

Review

Set up in the hills 300 feet above sea level, Hotel Wailea exudes a tree-house lodge vibe. The interiors of the common spaces take their cues from Japan, and are filled with colorful. pattern-filled fabrics and furniture. Though not situated directly on the water, Hotel Wailea has sweeping views over the Pacific Ocean and Maui’s many craters. There is a small army of Teslas and Range Rovers with drivers at the ready to bring guests a few minutes down the road to the beach where a full beach setup awaits. Staff are based on the beach to assist in setting up chairs, towels and anything else you might need. At the end of the day, when you are ready to retreat from the hustle and bustle that is the Wailea beach strip, the drivers can bring you back to the hotel for a quiet dinner either at Hotel Wailea’s restaurant or at a private setup somewhere else on the property’s 15 acres of private land.

Sprawled across the hotel’s large footprint are 72 suites within 18 buildings—about four suites per building. Suites are all the same king-bed style accommodation with a separate living room and a more understated fashion than the lobby and bar area. The only thing that differs in terms of room category is the view and the floor you’re located on—ground floor suites have patios while second floor suites have balconies, but all suites have an outdoor space of some kind.

Though more boutique than any other option in Wailea, the hotel has many of the facilities found at a larger resort, with an open-air fitness studio, bird-cage bar and garden pool tucked away and out of sight.

Who Should Stay

Couples or families with older children who want to be within striking distance of all that the Wailea development has to offer, without being constantly surrounded by the commotion that comes with it

Note: you must be 18 or older to stay at Hotel Wailea.
