While the global pandemic may have delayed the opening of Life House Hotel in Nantucket, it did not take away from the excitement surrounding its arrival to the island. With most local hotels opting for a traditional, nautical décor, Life House is a welcomed breath of fresh air.
From the outside, you can feel the history of the property, which dates back to 1833. But, upon entry, you are greeted by the playful design, with fun, unique details that still manage to evoke a sense of place. The first floor is home to a communal living space, where guests can enjoy nightly cocktails or breakfast each morning. There is also a wraparound deck and two outdoor seating areas, ideal for lounging.
The 17 rooms are all different in layout, and while not large, they are cozy and inviting. Some rooms come with fireplaces, another has a private entrance—but all are homey and comfortable.
While the property is small and without some facilities, such as a gym or spa, the location more than makes up for it. You are just a short walk from great restaurants, shops and more, though tucked away on a quiet street, removed from the bustle.
