At a Glance
The Park Hyatt Auckland is well-located on the Wynyard Quarter’s Lighter Basin, with the sweeping views of the downtown skyline, including Waitemata Harbour. Sitting several blocks farther out into the harbor than the nearby Sofitel, the hotel feels surrounded by the sea and takes advantage of its location and the cooperative climate with balconies in many rooms and indoor/outdoor dining spaces.

Review
The Park Hyatt Auckland’s 195 rooms, including 23 suites, are modern yet warm and comfortable, with leather and hardwood accents and nautical-inspired décor. The Maori artwork displayed throughout the hotel was created by local Kiwi artisans. We recommend the King Harbour View Rooms, with a balcony for views of the downtown skyline including the Sky Tower and the boat basin. Even the separate soaking tub in the marble clad bathroom has a view.
The hotel’s main restaurant, Onemata, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When the weather is pleasant, the outdoor dining space is ideal for watching the yachts jockey for space in the nearby boat basin. It is also possible to have drinks or dine in the modern and open lobby area, which also spills out onto the quay.
The hotel has a full-service spa, 25-meter indoor/outdoor pool and large and well-equipped gym area. The best feature though is the location, bordered on two sides by the harbor and only steps away from the Commercial Bay, Britomart and the Queens Street shopping districts via a pedestrian footbridge. Although it may delay your journey to the CBD, it is fun to watch as the footbridge is raised and lowered while yachts enter and exit the boat basin.
