Review

Shinde is situated on a private concession in the northern part of the Okavango Delta, surrounded by a diverse range of habitats including waterways, floodplains and grasslands. Each of the nine tents has a bedroom and en suite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a standing and ceiling fan, yoga mats and hair dryers. For larger groups, there is a family tent with two bedrooms that comfortably sleep five guests. Each tent also has a private veranda with outdoor seating (be careful of the monkeys, oftentimes found in the nearby trees and on top of the tents!). While comfortable, the rooms are not overly luxurious, but the experience can more than make up for it.

The camp’s location allows for excellent game viewing opportunities—elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes and numerous bird species, just to name a few—and activities include game drives, guided bush walks, mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) excursions and motorized boating safaris. The team is exceptional, offering warm and authentic service, and the guides are knowledgeable and personable. Simply put, it is one of those places where, even on your first visit, you feel like you’ve been there before.

Shinde also has a main lounge, dining area, DIY bar, shared pool and a communal fire pit. Please note: all meals are communal unless otherwise requested.
