Review
Sitting at one of the most distinguished addresses in the capital city, the hotel has been welcoming guests since the late 1970s. With 212 guest rooms spread over 11 floors, the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi is much larger than the others in the Taj portfolio (and unlike the other Taj properties in India, is not built from a former palace). After undergoing a recent renovation, the revitalized property has a more contemporary feel in the guest rooms and common spaces. Plus, the property was constructed with a state-of-the-art air purification system to ensure guests are breathing in clean, filtered air.
The hotel lobby is large and buzzy, filled with leisure and business travelers from around the world, and around India. All the amenities one would expect of a large city hotel are onsite, plus a few that you wouldn’t: an outdoor pool and lounge area in the back gardens as well as a spa and fitness center. There are five unique dining options, including fine dining, afternoon tea, a trendy cocktail bar, and the city's beloved Chinese dining destination, House of Ming.
The rooms here are bright, spacious and elegant featuring colorful accents like hand painted wall murals and embroidered pillowcases to give the corporate-leaning design a sense of place. Club-level rooms and suites grant guests access to the Club Lounge, a comfortable spot for guests to unwind and enjoy a bite to eat or pre-dinner drinks (which might be helpful when getting over jet-lag). There are also a multitude of connecting options and larger suites, so families looking to stay together will be set up well here.
Who Should Stay
Families in need of a soft landing with a comfortable, well-located setting and who don’t mind the hotel being on the larger side and a bit corporate.
