Review

It’s easy to overuse the word “iconic.” But when talking about The Langham, Chicago, the adjective rings true. That’s largely because of its location, inside a landmark Mies van der Rohe skyscraper along the Chicago River, directly across from the Loop.

The Langham occupies the first 12 floors of this landmark building, and its towering, Art Deco-influenced lobby offers a sneak peek into the aesthetic of the rest of the property.

The hotel features 268 guest rooms and 48 suites all designed with floor-to-ceiling windows making the unparalleled views of the Chicago skyline and river the focal points of the rooms. The décor is modern but warm, with neutral tones, pops of purple and dark wood accents. The bathrooms are spacious, covered in marble, granite and travertine and offer a rainfall shower, soaking tub or both.

Staying at the property gives access to Club Lounge on the uppermost floor, which comes with a variety of privileges including complimentary all-day refreshments, two-hour use of The Langham Club Boardroom, access to the Writer’s Corner with a reading library and two computer workstations, afternoon tea and more. The Cinema Suite is perfect for families, with a 111-inch screen, cushy seating for up to 12 people and private dining menu (all subject to availability). The Travelle restaurant is an on-property highlight serving seasonal American cuisine, with a great bar perched directly over the river. The property also has a spacious health club and full-service, award-winning wellness retreat, Chuan Spa, with treatments inspired by Chinese Medicine and a large swimming pool.
