Review

Located in the trendy neighborhood of Barranco, Villa Barranco feels like you are staying at a friend’s home in Lima.  With nine rooms total, the feeling is intimate, and the staff eager to make you feel welcome.  There is no real lobby, simply a small desk in the main hallway where someone from the lovely staff is waiting to accommodate your request or answer questions you may have about the neighborhood and its surrounds.

Guests are welcomed into the living room on arrival, which is adorned with carefully curated art from the owner’s personal collection.  Works consist of brightly colored textiles and traditional Peruvian hats, as well as modern lamps and light fixtures and a book case full of books on Peru and a seemingly haphazard selection of sculptures and art pieces.

The first floor consists of two deluxe rooms and four junior suites and the second floor is home to two more junior suites (one of which has a terrace off the bathroom), as well as the master suite with a lofted area and private roof access.  Three of the rooms on the ground floor have outdoor patios.  You must traverse a small inner courtyard to access three of the ground floor rooms, as well as the master suite, all of which have doors that open to the outside.  Two of the rooms on the first floor can be booked as outer-connecting rooms, which works nicely for families with children of an appropriate age. All of the rooms have wood floors and white walls and linens, and are decorated with art from the owners collection.

In addition to the rooms on the second floor, there is a door leading out to a comfortably furnished terrace, with a small putt-putt mat and bar that the staff is happy to tend to on request.  Breakfast is generally served on the patio just off the main sitting room, and consists of a selection of local fruits, breads, meats and cheeses, and then eggs cooked to your preference.  The hotel does not have a spa, gym, or formal restaurant.
