Review

Surrounded by museums and historical sites—and just a 20-minute walk from the Acropolis—xenodocheio Milos is ideally located to enjoy the wonders of Athens.

The discreet front door and simplistic lobby gives xenodocheio Milos a more hip and under-the-radar vibe than some of Athens' more well-known properties. The 43 rooms are simple and sophisticated—crisp white linens, wooden floors and navy and gray accents paired with high ceilings and marble bathrooms. Channeling the hotel's culinary aspect, the rooms (other than the entry-level Classic Rooms) are equipped with sleek, modern dining tables, encouraging an in-room fine-dining experience. The property also has an on-site gym and spa suite, as well as a business center.

There are nine room categories, ranging from the entry-level Classic Room to the Milos Signature Suite. The spacious Executive Rooms have king-sized beds and a dining area with velvet armchairs, an ideal option for business travelers and couples in town for a long weekend. The Premium Terrace Junior Suites offer generous indoor and outdoor space with floor-to-ceiling windows and private outdoor terraces overlooking the Old Parliament House and Lycabettus. The tranquil Milos Terrace Suite takes it to the next level with a private Jacuzzi, along with its own spacious outdoor terrace, stylish dining and seating area and gorgeous rooftop views of the city. Last, but certainly not least, the Milos Signature Suite was designed to look like a timeless, Athenian neoclassical apartment that sleeps up to four. There are interconnected options for families, and we recommend requesting a room away from the elevator, as the walls are a bit thin.

With such a strong gastronomic presence throughout the hotel, it only makes sense that the greatest highlight of the hotel is its famous Estiatorio Milos restaurant, ran by renowned Chef Costas Spiliadis. The décor matches the menu—simple, light and fresh. High ceilings and grand windows add to the dining room's minimalistic feel, with beige light fixtures and modern nautical art pieces to warm the stark white color palette. The menu is comprised of Chef Spiliadis' iconic Mediterranean dishes, focused on drawing out the natural flavors of quality ingredients— think freshly caught fish prepared with a squeeze of lemon and light seasoning, accompanied by capers and the finest Greek olive oil. Breakfast (included in the room rate), lunch and dinner are served on the main floor, while the second level serves as a private dining area for larger parties.

Who Should Stay

The hotel is great for solo travelers, business travelers and families seeking a quiet, no-fuss, central home base to explore Athens—or else a quick overnight stop after landing in the city. It is great for gourmands, who will enjoy the restaurant’s world-renowned fresh Greek dishes and the daily breakfast.
