Melissa is joined by legendary entrepreneur and adventurer Sir Richard Branson to explore the power of travel and his latest hotel in Mallorca. Renowned for his trailblazing spirit, Richard has carved a name for himself in diverse industries such as music, aviation, hotels, and even space exploration. The episode delves into his remarkable journey, starting from his early days when he left school at 16 to launch his own magazine, to starting Virgin Records later Virgin Airlines and the Virgin Limited Edition hotel group, and bringing us to the current day as he celebrates his hotel Son Bunyola in Mallorca that opened in June of 2023. The conversation highlights his incredible adventures, from a circumnavigation of the globe in a hot air balloon and exploring space to ambitious adventures with his family around the world. Melissa also shares some of her favorite shops, experiences, and restaurants in Mallorca on this week’s Indagare Insight!

Lightning Round with Sir Richard Branson:

  • Something you always travel with that isn’t your phone or iPad? Notebook
  • You are deeply passionate about ocean preservation. Tell us one of your favorite ways to experience the ocean—a view, a place to dive, a boat trip—where and why? I can’t think of a better way of experiencing the ocean than kitesurfing, and you’ll regularly find me kitesurfing between Necker Island and Moskito Island.
  • What are you reading now?The Power of Geography by Tim Marshall
  • What is next on your travel wishlist? I’m very happy to be heading back to Son Bunyola in Mallorca to stay in one of our beautiful villas and to see how the development of our new hotel is coming on, before it opens in June.
  • What would your last meal be? Joan’s shepherd’s pie
