Opened by Nate Tilden, the man behind Portland staples like Clyde Common, Pépé le Moko and Olympia Provisions, this swanky bar is an ode to northern Spain. The stylish tiled dining room has arched windows and an old-world atmosphere and the menu offers Spanish tapas. The inspired cuisine—including montaditos, merguez sausage with tomato jam and hearth-roasted potatoes—pairs excellently with the sophisticated wine list and notable sherry collection. Often crowded, Bar Casa Vale has a lovely outdoor patio that is particularly enjoyable during the summer months.
