Brasão Aliados, Rua de Ramalho Ortigão, Porto, Portugal
This timeless restaurant is rustic chic, colored in rich browns and plants, with a dark-stone bar. This is the place to try traditional Portuguese dishes, specifically the classic francesinha a sandwich with cured ham, sausage and steak, covered in melted cheese with tomato and topped with beer sauce. Locals typically enjoy it alongside fries, and it can also be served with a fried egg on top—be warned, one may be enough to split between two people. The most unique experience at Brasão Aliados is dining on the “second floor,” which consists of two raised platforms on either side of the restaurant, each with four tables and the lights hanging at the same height as your head while seated. It feels a bit like dining in a cozy treehouse. Brasão Aliados is only a two minute walk from Indagare favorite hotel Infante Sagres.
