El Riojano

Dating back to 1855, El Riojano was founded by the royal family’s pastry chef. When he decided he wanted to make pastries for the people, the royal family allowed it under one condition: he make it the most beautiful pastry shop in the world. The result: a patisserie with glossy woods, glass and gold, with cases filled with picture-perfect treats and a back room where patrons can enjoy their sweets with coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The latter is especially good, and pairs well a with a fried porra or churro for dipping.
