Els 4Gats, Carrer de Montsió, Barcelona, Spain
+34933024140
Els 4Gats first opened in 1897 and for years was a cultural hub for the great minds of Barcelona, including Picasso and Gaudí. Today, it is popular with both locals and travelers (though the earlier in the day you go, the more touristy it will feel). A deceptively large restaurant, Els 4Gats comprises a small tapas area at the front and a larger dining room with a palazzo-style second floor where tables for two look down on the restaurant. The décor leans into the history, with murals and prints of historic Spanish artists, and the food is authentically Spanish. (You will even see one of the staff slicing ham in the main dining room.)
