La Cabane du Feneau

If you only make time for one oyster cabane (hut) while on Île de Ré, it should be this one, surrounded by salt flats and right off the bike path to Ars. Diners sit at mismatched tables in a small garden out back, and oysters are served in elaborate wooden baskets, cushioned with seaweed. Reservations are a must for lunch, even during the off-season.

Indagare Tip: Oysters are numbered, and the higher the number, the smaller the oyster. Those used to Montauk and Cape Cod oysters will be happiest with #4s.
