Las Musas

The café Las Musas—the Muses—is tucked under the arches of the cloister arcades of the Bellas Artes fine arts school. The cloister itself is a lovely place to stop for a coffee or snack, or just a few minutes to catch your breath and take in the scenery of bamboo plants, leafy poinsettias, citrus trees and ferns centered around a tinkling fountain. Once occupied by nuns, the cloister now hosts a variety of art, music and dance classes, and it only takes a few minutes to walk through the building for a free, self-guided tour of its architecture, murals and sculptures. Open Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Closed on Sundays.
