Ensconced in a dimly lit, gentlemen’s club–esque space on the second floor of a building in downtown Portland, this lauded speakeasy transports guests with boozy craft cocktails and a Prohibition-era feel. Nicknamed The Library, the lounge is decorated like its namesake and sports leather-top tables with green reading lights, a stained glass ceiling, shelves lined with over 1,500 liquor bottles and a sliding ladder that the bartenders use to pluck ingredients as needed. Patrons at the cozy hideaway, which also sports brick walls and a fireplace, can order from a list of cocktails or request a custom creation from the dedicated mixologist. One of the most popular venues in the city, Multnomah often has multiple-hour waits, but patrons can while the time away at the downstairs bar, The Green Room, which also serves drinks in an elegant space. Multnomah member (membership fees run around $600 annually) are able to reserve seats and have access to private events.
