One of the oldest restaurants in Europe (it is first mentioned in documents dating to 803 A.D. when established by Benedictine monks), Stiftskeller St. Peter is a unique dining experience. Carved within the mountain and consisting of a maze of rooms, the restaurant is rich with history: locals say that Mephistopheles met Faust here; Charlemagne is believed to have dined here; rumor has it that Columbus drank here before setting sail for America. No matter the stories, the fact remains that St. Peter Stiftskeller is a special culinary experience, with both traditional Austrian standards and international specialties on the menu. The venue, which has an elegant and exciting atmosphere, also hosts Mozart dinner concerts performed daily in the historic Baroque hall.
