Munich is ground zero for German breweries, and the many Brauhäuser (rustic restaurant-beer halls) reflect this. Every Munich family has its preferred beer hall and all of them host tents during the annual Oktoberfest. To the visitor, they will all appear similar, with their soaring traditional dining halls, communal wooden tables, heaping helpings of German food and boisterous atmospheres. This local favorite has cozy nooks and sitting areas and is less touristy than the Hofbräuhaus.
