Fly-Fishing
Fly-fishing enthusiasts will find a number of lakes and rivers around Pucón to try and hook some rainbow and brook trout, Chinook or King Salmon. Both the Liucurá and lower Trancura are ideal spots to cast off and spend a languid afternoon in the swift flowing waters and calm pools. Our Bookings Team can arrange for a guide.
Hiking
Chile's Lakes Region is famous for its lush forests filled with monkey-puzzle trees, which are gorgeous, tall, pine-like specimens. The trees apparently get their name from someone once remarking upon how complex the maze-like branches look, and how they would puzzle any monkey attempting to climb them. Contact our Bookings Team to set up a hike.
Skiing
In winter (June through September), guests can ski the surrounding mountains and the Villarrica volcano, which is located on the Argentina border. Contact our Bookings Team to make arrangements.
Termas Geometricas
After a long day of hiking, trekking or wandering, visitors may want to treat their well-worn muscles to some natural pampering. Termas Geometricas is one of the many thermal baths that dot the area but is a gorgeous stand-out among the rest. The Japanese-inspired slate hot springs sit over a lush canyon and rushing stream and boasts two waterfalls and 17 pools in total.
Villarrica Volcano
One of Chile’s most active volcanoes, Villarrica looms over Pucón and can be seen from every area of the city. Visitors can ski the volcano, which is capped with snow throughout the year, or hike up to peek inside the crater, which contains an active although intermittent lava lake. Contact our Bookings Team to arrange a trip.
White-Water Rafting
Pucón has an abundance of rivers that attract kayakers and rafters, the most popular of which is the Trancura, known for not only its crystalline waters but also the amazing scenery. Visitors may also kayak along the Liucura River. Trips are available for both beginners and experts. Contact our Bookings Team to make arrangements.
