Okay so the food is not so much the draw here as is the dining room but the thrill of sitting in a Zaha Hadid designed space in the middle of Hyde Park makes it worth the visit. The menu focuses on new British cuisine i.e. global fusion dishes such as sushi of quail egg and truffle and black angus fillet with yakiniku sauce. The Magazine is open from 10 am with tea and cakes served when it is not meal time. On a glorious spring or summer day in London, it is a treat to walk to or from the restaurant and then to find the whimsical Magazine. I doubt Hadid would welcome my saying that it feels like dining in an enchanted forest underneath a toadstool but there is something modernistic and yet deeply organic about the space. The name refers to the fact that the brick building to which this new structure is attached was originally built for gunpowder storage; that building has been transformed into a space to exhibit modern art for the Serpentine Gallery.
