Rosewood Bermuda Review

The Rosewood is Bermuda’s top luxury hotel, and it is also one of the youngest; while other properties on the island tout their centuries-old history, the Rosewood was built in 2009 (and got a major renovation in early 2018). In its latest incarnation, the property is classic Rosewood, with a fresh spin on British colonial style and all the amenities of a top resort—from an 18-hole golf course and beach club to the award-winning spa, multiple pools and restaurants, sprawled across 240 acres.

The latest refresh maximizes the views and modernizes the check-in and concierge experience; there is now an airy multi-use conservatory with a gin bar and breakfast area off the lobby and entry, and the restaurant formerly known as The Point has been dubbed Island Brasserie. It lives up to the name and is decidedly less formal, with low navy banquettes and terrace seating, though the classic painted murals of New York and Hamilton harbors still cover the walls near the newly refurbished rum bar. Rosewood Bermuda also has the benefit of being close to the airport, and is a short taxi ride from Hamilton. The road to the hotel passes by rolling fairways dotted with homes owned by the likes of Ross Perot and Michael Bloomberg. The hotel itself is perched on the edge of a cliff, and its British colonial manor house feel provides a distinctive sense of place. This is what modern-day Bermuda should look like.

The floral-chintz feel is gone in the 88 rooms and suites, which now have greige and khaki linen color schemes with blue and white touches throughout. Bathrooms have both a soaking tub and a walk-in shower, along with Aerin Lauder’s first hotel line of six products. Other modern amenities include Nespresso machines and flat-screen TVs.

To get to the hotel’s beach club, there is a complimentary shuttle that leaves every half hour. The higher-category rooms come with a personal golf cart, which is hugely convenient (upgrading to a suite is worth the increase in price just for this amenity). While it is still a hassle to trek to the beach, the drive only takes five minutes, and the path meanders through the resort’s picturesque golf courses. And once guests arrive to the pink-sand cove, the journey is all but forgotten. Exclusively reserved for hotel guests, the picturesque club has an adults-only infinity pool, a kids’ pool and a bar and restaurant. While the rooms with views are luxurious, the beach club is the hotel’s winning feature.

Who Should Stay

This is the only true luxury resort option in Bermuda. Families and couples have lots of activity options onsite, and for those who would rather be idle, there are many scenic places to relax.
