The restaurant and café at Bergen’s House of Literature, this stylish, all-day eatery fosters an industrial-chic aesthetic with exposed brick walls, a bright-red ceiling and orb-shaped hanging lights. Breakfast features crowd-pleasing dishes like eggs Benedict, muesli and ham and cheddar croissants. The lunch menu features a delicious fish soup as well as an array of smørbrød (traditional Norwegian open-face sandwiches). In the evening, the menu becomes more sophisticated, with such dishes as steak tartare with marrow butter, halibut with cavatelli and black garlic and chicken ballotine with risotto.
