Helmed by Top Chef runner-up Gregory Gourdet, this rooftop restaurant (the only of its kind in downtown) at the Nines hotel offers the swanky atmosphere and scene one might find at one of Manhattan’s trendiest lounges. Departure is located on the hotel’s 15th floor and serves Asian-inspired cuisine in an über sleek setting. In the modern dining room and outdoor patio, guests can enjoy craft cocktails and such dishes as crispy pork belly with sweet and sour cherries and pumpkin seeds, an array of dim sum and sushi rolls and the signature Departure wings, which come served in a bamboo steamer. And while the cuisine at Departure is reliably good, the restaurant’s defining feature is its patio and the beautiful views that it affords of the city, Willamette River and Mount Hood.
